Managing ADHD in relationships requires understanding and effective communication. Here's some ADHD relationship advice for both partners:


For the Partner with ADHD

  • Acknowledge the Impact: Recognize how your ADHD symptoms might be affecting your partner. This shows them you care and are willing to work on things.

  • Communication is Key: Open and honest communication is essential. Talk to your partner about your ADHD and how it affects you. Explain your challenges and frustrations, but also your strengths and coping mechanisms.

  • Develop Strategies Together: Work with your partner to develop strategies that can help you manage your ADHD symptoms in the relationship. This could involve things like using planners and reminders, creating routines, or breaking down tasks into smaller steps.

  • Follow Through on Commitments: One of the biggest frustrations for partners of someone with ADHD can be a lack of follow-through. Make an effort to keep your promises and prioritize commitments made to your partner.
